Job Summary

Are you passionate about credit insurance? Are you seeking for a Business Development role in a progressive growing company?

Xenia Broking Group are currently recruiting a Business Development Executive, who will be acquiring Trade Credit Insurance new business and contributing to the growth of Xenia. Working within the Sales team the successful Business Development Executive will be generating revenue, driving prospect engagement and winning new business in line with the company’s sales strategy. Achievement is measured through originating quality meetings, developing robust pipelines and closing cases to achieve financial targets.

Xenia was formed through the union of two long-standing specialist credit insurance brokers, Credit Risk Solutions (CRS) and Credit & Business Finance (CBF) acquired in 2017 and 2019 respectively. The combining of these independent and entrepreneurial businesses, including the Howden Trade Credit team acquired in 2020, positioned Xenia as one of the largest credit insurance brokers in the UK. 2021 & 2022 has seen more acquisitions with experienced colleagues joining from Credit Insurance Alliance Brokers (CIA), Status Credit, Parker Norfolk, Peter Hill Credit & Tysers Insurance Brokers making Xenia one of the largest specialist credit insurance brokers in the UK.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities

Sales and Growth:

  • Actively supporting and developing the Business Unit (BU) to deliver required growth and achieve agreed business targets;
  • Identifying potential new business opportunities and working with colleagues to close such opportunities where appropriate;
  • Devising and executing strategies to develop and grow a network of relationships among prospects decision makers;
  • Developing and cultivating relationships within the local business community;
  • Developing and cultivating relationships with the Trade Credit Underwriting sector and negotiating with Underwriters accordingly;
  • Actively driving the sales process and BU activity in relation to winning, and developing profitable clients, engaging with telesales resource as appropriate;
  • Consistently delivering new business from a variety of sources including internal & external introductions;
  • Initiating contact and building relationships with allocated prospects in order to create and convert sales opportunities;
  • Maintaining a detailed knowledge of Xenia products.

Prospect Management:

  • Ensuring robust account planning is in place for all prospects and that key actions are completed on time;
  • Creating new and subsequent prospect meetings for yourself and others;
  • Ensuring that full and accurate details of contact with and development of all prospects are entered and updated on Xenia Goldmine systems;
  • Ensuring meeting notes are completed and circulated in a timely manner.
  • Providing innovative solutions to enquiries received from external partners;
  • Presenting reports and presentations to prospective clients and other professional partners;
  • Ensuring that Xenia Brand, policies and code of conduct is adhered to at all times both within the workplace or at other external events;
  • Referring any matter beyond the level of an individual’s experience or authority to their line manager;
  • Completing a minimum of 15 hours of continuous professional development annually.

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge/Experience


  • Ideally educated to a degree (e.g Business Studies, Economics), as a minimum to A’ Levels with strong performance in English and Mathematics.


  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks within a high pressured environment, including working to tight deadlines;
  • High attention to detail in producing a quality output, accurate record keeping;
  • Presentable, with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mind-set;
  • Good instinct for business;
  • Ability to build trust by operating with integrity and professionalism;
  • Experience in delivering client-focused solutions and in creating long-lasting relationships;
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills;
  • IT literate with strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are essential;
  • Clean driving license essential.


  • Previous success of selling credit insurance is preferable, but not essential
  • Knowledge of credit insurance is preferable;
  • Knowledge of financial products relevant to a range of businesses and sectors is essential;
  • A track record of working in a professional services environment is essential.
